On The DLC Tip...

There's been a few interesting events this past week that I should likely write about.
For one, I've been away from work for 5 days (this being my last day away) because of a nasty toothache that is in limbo currently.
Tuesday after Rock Band night (which went well, by the way -- Tayo, Todd, Kate and others were on hand) I brushed my teeth and started bleeding pretty badly from this tooth that's been giving me troubles...it seems a wedge of it came off. It was the source of some pain throughout the evening.
The next afternoon, I went to work and then it started in hurting again. I thought for sure I would have to leave, but after some pain medicine and much time, it finally curbed around 4. I was able to finish the day.

The day after, it started up again and I decided to stay at home, watch a movie and try to keep ice on it. Or at least that was one of my many attempts to try and subdue it. Orajel had little effect (except masking where the pain was coming from) and ice packs sometimes felt good, and sometimes fueled my sympathetic headache. The best cure it seemed was ice cold water. I drank some, kept it in my mouth. After I swallowed it, the pain would start up pretty quickly 1 or 2 minutes later. So I kept this up. For hours. I drank so much water, I went to the bathroom 12 times in 5 hours.

Finally, around 1 it curbed again. I by this point had scheduled a dentist appointment, urgent care (which seems to mean within 48 hours around here) and hoped the storm had passed. Because the appointment was not till the next day at noon, that meant pretty much I wouldn't be going to work on Friday either. And add this to the fact that I would have the next 3 days off shows where I am today.

The appointment went generally well (it seemed a little unnessecary really) and they basically said they would have to do a root canal (not till the end of November, for pete's sake), and later pull these two teeth in the back...and send me to a specialist for something else completely (this gum problem that's gotten out of control)...and they gave me a slip for vikoden (sp) and some antibiotics. To my credit, I haven't taken the pain medicine yet :)

My weekend has been good with the tooth, and other things. We went to NW and had some good indian food, and walked around the town a bit. We saw Calexico, which put on an awesome show: the best I've seen at the Crystal. Too bad there wasn't more room to dance.

Sunday, we saw 'Burn After Reading' which was a little slow at first, but got really good at the end. They do so well with black comedy. Such interesting characters, and strange performances.I'll have more on this, maybe I'll put a review up. Fancy that. Before that we took in a cool hike at Forest Park, and saw some interesting things at the Audobon store.

A good weekend, and we're hoping the rain holds up for next weekend so we can actually do some things around the house. It's been a good unexpected vacation from work.
Tomorrow, back to the grind.

And to bring some relevance to the title: today Rock Band released 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' - a cool album, but I'm not really familiar with most of it. I'll definitely have to pick up Under the Bridge and Breaking The Girl though. I'll have to see what the others from work think.

Ben Folds Five and I wasn't there

Damn them for being from North Carolina. That's halfway across the world from here.
And damn them for not taking this show on the road one last time. I would eat those tickets up in a heartbeat.

I've read a few articles, seen a few youtube clips this morning, but nothing will quite live up to the splendor of seeing them live.

I unfortunately came across them just before they called it quits, and I never did once seem them live. Looks like my time has come and gone. But with this, there could always be more. Why not?
I can dream can't I?

There's been a few bands that I've missed seeing live: Genesis, Ben Folds Five, Soul Coughing.
There are more, but it's early, and I'm a little sleepy.

Today, work. Tonight, Rock Band 2 with all of the songs cocked and ready. I'm pretty excited. Here's a reminder to myself to print out the track listings tonight.

I'm hoping too there will be a DVD in the works from this concert. I want to see it all and remember the times I never had.

With the internet, after all, everything's possible.

Non-Blogger's Blog was taken.

So here is. My nth attempt at a blog.
I tried limiting myself thematically, but that seemed to limit my productivity.

I figure I'll just blog about my day. That's it.
Boring, but interesting to me perhaps one of these days when I wish to review the past few years, yadda, yadda.

That's it.

Today:
I transferred the tracks from Rock Band 1 to Rock Band 2 in preparation for tomorrow.
I'm stoked to have so many tracks available to rock on.
So rock...on.
I can't say I've done much else.
Tonight, premieres of Heroes and Big Bang Theory. I suppose ABC is right:
Stay Home Week indeed.
Saw a funny Darwin Awards video...it was very cringe-worthy but it did lift my spirits in many sections.

I await a call from Beth to go pick her up and see what the rest of my day entails.

Be seeing you.
